North Dakota Lawmaker Cited for DUI

Representative Craig Headland (R – Montpelier) was cited for driving under the influence this weekend in Stutsman County. According to public records, the citation took place on October 8th. Headland’s initial court appearance is scheduled for November 7th, the day after the midterm election.

Headland is a long-serving Republican lawmaker from District 29. He is currently seeking reelection. Below is the public record of the citation.

The 2013 Legislature voted to reform the state’s DUI laws following a tragedy on Interstate 94 in Stutsman County. Though Headland voted for the House version early in the session, he ultimately voted against the conference committee of the House and Senate compromise.
